EVERCUP / BUYING FAQ
Questions Buyers Ask Before the First Order
Grouped the way a project runs: what you are buying, how many, how it is decorated, how it is checked, how it ships and how it is paid for. If your question is not here, it is usually answered in one reply.

ORDERING & MINIMUMS
What you are buying, and how few you can start with.
What is the minimum order?
10 pieces on any existing model, plain or printed — one colour or ten, it is still 10; the screens and any colour match are charged as setup. A custom lid or component starts at 1,000, and a new mould at 3,000. The tooling is quoted and charged as its own line, so it is not buried in the unit price. The minimum is written on every quotation.
Can I order fewer than 10 pieces?
Not as a production order. Under that quantity it is a sample, and samples are priced as samples — which is usually the cheaper way to see the product in your hand.
Do I need to choose a model before enquiring?
No. Send the use, the quantity, the artwork situation and the arrival date. If you have a reference photo, that is enough to start a conversation about which model fits.
Can I mix several designs in one order?
Yes, if they share the same model and body colour. Different artwork versions can run in one production batch; different models or colours are separate runs, and each has to meet its own minimum.
Can you make a product that is not on the site?
Yes — that is the OEM and tooling side of the business. Send a drawing, a sample to copy, or a description; we reply with which development route fits and what it commits you to.
Do you sell to distributors and to end users?
We supply brands, promotional distributors, hospitality groups, retail chains and Amazon sellers. The terms are the same; what changes is the volume and the documentation your channel requires.
PRICE
What actually moves the unit price.
How much does a custom cup cost?
It depends on five things: the model, the material, the decoration, the quantity and the packing. Two cups of the same size can differ by three or four times for those reasons alone. Send the specification and you get a number with each line explained, rather than a range.
Why can't you give a price from a photo?
A photo does not show wall thickness, material grade, print colours, lid construction or packing. Each of those changes the cost, so a number guessed from a photo is usually withdrawn at the second email — which wastes a week.
Do prices include freight?
No. Quotations are FOB Shenzhen: the goods, packed and delivered to the port. Freight, insurance and destination charges are quoted separately against your address, or handled by your own forwarder.
Is there a setup charge?
There is a setup for print screens, colour matching and any new tooling, and it is quoted as a separate line. On repeat orders for the same artwork the print setup is normally not charged again — confirm it on the order, not from memory.
Are prices lower at higher quantities?
Yes, and the steps are not linear. The plateaus come from how a press is scheduled and how many mould cavities a run can fill. Ask for a price at two quantities and you can see where the step is.
Can you match a competitor's price?
Sometimes — but only by comparing the same specification. A lower quote is usually a thinner wall, a cheaper resin, fewer print colours or packing that will not survive the journey. We will tell you which of those the other quote is doing.
SAMPLES
Seeing the product before you commit.
How fast can I get a sample?
An existing model ships in 1–2 days. A decorated sample takes 5–7 days after artwork approval. A sample from new tooling takes 30–40 days, because the tool has to be cut and trialled first.
Are samples free?
Existing reference samples and custom samples are priced differently, and the sample charge is quoted with the freight separately. A free sample is not a universal promise here — pretending otherwise is how buyers end up paying for it in the unit price.
Is the sample cost refunded on the order?
On production orders above the tooling threshold it usually is, and that is stated on the quotation. Ask, and it will be written down rather than remembered.
Can you send a sample of my exact artwork?
Yes — that is the point of a decorated sample. Send print-ready artwork and the model, and the sample comes back with the print in position so you can check registration, colour and coverage on the actual surface.
What if the sample is not what I expected?
Then we change it before production. That is the whole reason the sample exists. A sample that is “close enough” becomes a batch that is not, so the approval step is deliberately strict.
TOOLING & DEVELOPMENT
Moulds, drawings and the 3,000 piece question.
How much does a mould cost?
It is quoted per drawing, because the number of mould sets, the cavity count, the steel, the slides and the texture decide it — and two similar cups can differ by a factor of three. Send a drawing or a sample to copy and the tooling is quoted as its own line, with what is included.
Why is the MOQ 3,000 for a new mould?
Because a new mould has to be cut, trialled and paid for, and 3,000 pieces is the smallest run that keeps the piece price sensible once the tool is running. The tooling itself is charged as its own line, so you pay for it once rather than twice. Below 3,000 pieces the honest route is an existing model with your colour or print.
How long does tooling take?
25–35 days from an approved drawing to the first trial parts, and 30–40 days to a sample you can approve, because two or three trial rounds are normal.
Who owns the mould?
Agreed at quotation. Either the tooling is charged to you and stays yours for the life of the programme, or it is amortised into the unit price. Which one applies, and who holds the tool, is written into the order.
Can you copy a sample I send?
We can work from a sample, and we will tell you what we can measure from it and what we cannot. If the product belongs to someone else, we ask you to confirm you have the right to have it copied — we do not reproduce a competitor's protected design on request.
Can you improve a design we already have?
Yes. That is where most development work starts: a thinner wall, a better lid, one part instead of three. A change made before the tool is cut costs an email; the same change after costs a new tool.
MATERIALS & DECORATION
Plastic, silicone and what can be printed on them.
Which materials do you work in?
PP, AS/SAN, PC, Tritan and silicone. That is the whole list — no glass, no ceramic, no metal bodies. Stainless shakers and openers are sourced as separate items with the source stated, and quoted as their own line.
Which material should I choose?
Tritan where clarity and a premium feel matter, PP where cost and hot-fill tolerance matter, AS for a glass-like look at a lower price, silicone where the product has to fold or resist heat. The materials guide compares them model by model.
Is the plastic food safe and BPA free?
The resins we use are food-contact grades and the declarations come from the resin supplier, not from us. Ask for the document that matches the grade on your order; a general “BPA free” claim on a website is worth less than the supplier's sheet.
Can the cups go in a dishwasher?
It depends on the material, the print and the lid — not on the product category. Dishwasher exposure is a test condition, and the answer for your model is confirmed on a sample rather than promised in general.
How many print colours can you do?
One to eight on screen print, with the cost rising per colour; UV print handles full-colour artwork. The limit is usually the print area and the curvature, not the ink.
Can you print on silicone?
Silicone is a different surface and needs pad printing or laser rather than a standard screen pass, and adhesion has to be validated. Ask before building artwork around it.
What artwork file do you need?
Vector artwork — AI, EPS or a print-ready PDF with fonts outlined, in the actual print size. A JPG can be redrawn, but the redraw is a cost and a risk you do not need.
QUALITY & COMPLIANCE
How the batch is checked, and what the paperwork covers.
How is the batch inspected?
AQL sampling by batch size: 5% of units under 500 pieces, 3% between 500 and 2,000, and 1% above 2,000. Under 500 pieces we check appearance, dimensions and assembly; above 500 a leak test is added; above 2,000 the carton drop test and shipping marks are added.
Can I book a third-party inspection?
Yes, and it is sensible on a first order. Tell us the agency and the date, and production is scheduled so the goods are packed and accessible when the inspector arrives.
What certificates do you have?
ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 for the management systems, plus SGS and STC reports on specific products and Tritan resin documentation. The certificates page shows which document belongs to which model — a report for one model does not transfer to another.
Will you provide a test report for my market?
Yes, quoted per model and sent to a third-party lab. It is a separate line because whether you need it depends on your market and your buyer, and it is not free.
What happens if the goods are defective on arrival?
Send photos of the cartons and the units with the packing list. Shortages, damage and specification gaps are reviewed against the approved sample, then corrected by the same team that ran the order.
Do you keep a record of my approved sample?
Yes. One approved sample and artwork version per order stays on file, which is what makes a repeat order two years later identical to the first one.
SHIPPING & PAYMENT
How the goods travel and how the invoice is settled.
How long does production take?
25–30 days for a standard run, counted from the day the deposit clears and the artwork is approved — not from the enquiry. With new tooling, 30–40 days.
How long does shipping take?
Sea freight 20–45 days port to port depending on the route, air freight 3–10 days, express 3–7 days door to door, rail to Europe 20–30 days. Door-to-door express transit is typically 7–10 days once the goods are ready.
Can you ship to Amazon FBA?
Yes, as a DDP delivery. Send the FBA shipment plan with the enquiry, because carton weight limits, FNSKU labelling and the appointment process have to be built into the packing.
Can you use my forwarder?
Yes. We deliver to their Shenzhen or Guangzhou warehouse and hand over the export documents on your instruction. If you do not have one, we quote through forwarders we work with regularly — the contract stays between you and them.
What are the payment terms?
30% deposit with the order and 70% against the B/L copy before the documents are released, by T/T. PayPal is accepted for samples and small trials. Bank charges of roughly USD 15–35 per transfer sit with the buyer.
Is DDP available?
Yes, quoted against a delivery postcode. The same carton delivered to a different state can carry a different duty and delivery rate, which is why the address is part of the quotation.
Which currencies do you invoice in?
USD by default; RMB settlement is possible through a forwarder or a nominated agent in China if cross-border payment is difficult in your market.
WORKING TOGETHER
The practical questions about a new supplier.
Are you a trading company or a factory?
A factory. Shenzhen BYF Precision Mould Co., Ltd., operating a 3,416 m² plant with injection moulding equipment, silicone compression equipment, our own tooling shop and 4 QA/QC inspectors. EVERCUP is the brand the site trades under.
Can I visit the factory?
Yes, by appointment. Shenzhen, Guangdong — tell us the date and what you want to see, and the people who run those areas will be there rather than a salesperson.
Do you sign an NDA?
Yes, before drawings are exchanged. Send yours or ask for ours.
Who will I be talking to?
One contact who can answer on specification, cost and schedule without forwarding your email. The same team that quotes runs the order — that is the point of keeping tooling, moulding and packing in one building.
How do I start?
Send the model or the idea, the quantity, the artwork, the destination and the date you need the goods. One reply comes back with specification, cost and schedule.
